Final Project: Vinyl WindMill

My Final Project For This Class Was A Windmill With A  Record On Top To Make it Spin. I Started Out With A Old Barstool I Found At The Thrift Store. I Started Out By Taking Off The Seat Cover. After Removing The Cover I Sawed Off The Top To Make The Circle Shape Square. After Sawing Off The Corners I Attached A Piece Of Wood to The Top Of The Stool. The Next Thing I Did Was Nail Pieces Of Wood Vertically To The Barstool. After All The Wood Was Nailed On I Spray Painted The Stool Red. After Painting The Stool I Took A Record And Heated Up A Scapel To Cut Lines Into The Record. After Cutting The Lines I Took A Hairdryer To Bend Pieces Of The Record Outward. After Bending The Record I Took A Screw And A Piece Of Plastic And Attached The Record To The Stool. The Final Piece Was Attaching A Finn To The Back Of The Stool.

Plaster Mold: Mustaches

These Are My Mustaches Made From Plaster Molds. First I Made A Mustache Out Of Clay. Once The Clay Was Hard I Poured Plaster Over The Mold. Once The Plaster Was Hardened I Dug The Clay Out. Once All The Clay Was Removed I Poured Clay Slip Into The Mold And Once The Slip Was Dry I Dug The Mold Out With A Wood Tool. Once I Had The First Mold Dry I Made Several More Molds. I Plan To Paint These With Acrylic Paint And Stick Them In Random Places Around My House.

Plaster Carving: 1957 Gibson Les Paul Goldtop

This My Plaster Carving Of Duane Allmans 1957 Gibson Les Paul Goldtop. I Decided To Make A Gutiar Out Of Plaster Because I Love The Look Of Guitars And Thought It Would Cool To Look At. The First Thing I Did Was Mix The Plaster Then I Poured It Into The Lid Of A Paper Box. The Second Thing I Did Was Printing Out The Outline Online. Then I Cut Out The Outline And Traced It On The Plaster. Then I Chipped Away The Plaster Using A Chizzle And Mallet. Once I Had The Outline All Done I Sanded Out The Body Which Took Me Awhile And Then I Painted It. I Used  Gold Paint For The Body And Sliver For The Pickups And Black And White Paint For The Bridge. I Think This Came Out Very Well And Was Worth Hours Of Sanding And Painting.

Hand Sculpture: Metal Horns

This Is My Metal Horn Hand Sculpture Made Out Of Hand Rolled Coils. This Project Was Fun But Difficult Because I Had To Look At My Hand Consistently. I Think The Hand is Very Abstract Because The Two Fingers Pointing Up Are Very Alien  Like. I Currently Am Using My Hand To Put My House Keys On At Home.

my Handmade Cup

This Is my Handmade Coffee Cup. I Made It By Hand Using Hand Rolled Slabs And A Coil For The Handle. The Cup Came Out Somewhat Uneven But I thought It Came Out Very Unique Since I Have Not Worked With Clay Since High School.

3d Wire Sculpture: Record Player

This Is The First Project We Did In Class I Made A Record Player Because I Have Been Collecting Records For About 8 Years And Have Loved The Way Turntables Have Looked Since I Was Little. The Base Was Made With Heavy Cable Like Wire And Was Very Hard To Bend And Shape. The Record Platter And Tone Arm Were Made From Very Thin Wire Which Was Easy To Bend And Very Durable. The Project Came Out Better Then I Expected Because The Base Cable Was Very Hard To Bend.
